The user of the netwerk services and the K.U. Leuven network system declares that he agrees to the terms of use, designed to:
- guarantee the safety, trust and personal atmosphere of the K.U. Leuven systems
and networks, and the networks and systems of third parties
- protect the personal atmosphere and safety of the individual users
- guarantee the good name of the K.U. Leuven by acting as a sensible Internet
user
- avoid disrupting the service of the network and the computer system
When using the by LUDIT-provided Internet-services, the following set of deontological rules should be respected:
- It is forbidden to damage the hardware or software
- It is forbidden to alter system information, system configuration or application
programs
- It is forbidden to break into other computers, to crack passwords or look
at someone's password, or to listen into network traffic
- It is forbidden to ignore safety- or payment systems
- It is forbidden to copy non-public software
- It is forbidden to disrupt other users by E-mail or through interactive
messages, chain letters are not allowed
- It is forbidden to save personal files in databases, unless you have been
granted authorized permission
- It is forbidden to use PC's or the network for entertainment (games are
forbidden)
- It is forbidden to send mail or newsarticles not meeting elementary standards
of courtesy.
- It is forbidden to lend others login-numbers, or to use the login-numbers
of others
- It is forbidden to assume a false identity on the network
- It is forbidden to use academic networks for commercial purposes
- The public information offered by the network must be compatible with the
university standards and the fundamental principles of the university
- It is the responsibility of every student to properly use the internet facilities
offered by the K.U. Leuven. Every student is personally liable for the abuse
or illegal use of this service, with respect to criminal and civil law. Every
abuse or illegal use will lead to the ban of using computer- and network services
or can lead to internal sactions such as disciplinary measures by the K.U.
Leuven.
